Barriers to long term housing are especially challenging for those who struggle with disabilities, chronic illnesses, and homelessness among other circumstances. Weingart Center, a human services nonprofit committed to providing resources for the homeless in Downtown Los Angeles, just celebrated the opening of their 17-story supportive housing development. It is the city’s first high-rise dedicated to permanent supportive housing. It includes 278 residential living units, a fitness center, community kitchen, library, and career center.
This ambitious project was built to decrease rates of homelessness and provided jobs for over 120 Union Carpenters with WSRCC who are proud to have taken part in such a historically profound community resource.
