WSRCC Visits LA City Hall to Talk Labor Standards

WSRCC Representatives made statements to the Los Angeles City Planning Commission in support of labor standards for affordable housing projects.  Several affordable housing projects were on the docket of the LA City Planning Commission to approve, and WSRCC wanted the Commissioners to know that they should hold true to California state law SB4 and AB 2011 and include labor standards for workers that are building the future of the city.

Colorado Puts New Focus on Fighting Wage Theft in Construction Industry

Representatives from Local 555 were interviewed by The Denver Post about the plague on wage theft in Colorado. The “Payroll Fraud Task Force” of Local 555 was front and center in this extensive article in Colorado’s biggest newspaper. “It’s about cleaning up the construction industry,” said Mark Thompson, Special Representative for Local 555. “It’s a dirty criminal world.” Read the full article here.

Picket at Honda World 

Representative made their voices heard at a two-day picket at Honda World in Downey, California.  Representatives were opposing the use of non-area standard wages at the Honda dealership.  The dealership is adding an addition including a new service bay and showroom.  Two representatives were arrested for handing out flyers on private property. This is a federally-protected right that we have to protest. WSRCC isn’t letting a civil rights violation such as this go unnoticed .
