A Special Spotlight on Our Alaskan Sisters

Local 1243 Sisters Featured in GVEA’s Magazine, The Ruralite

With Women’s History Month still underway, we are happy to continue to give recognition to our Sister Carpenters. Our Sisters now span from border to border, and continue to do amazing things every day, and WSRCC is not the only organization that takes notice.

Golden Valley Electrical Association (GVEA) in Fairbanks, Alaska, put the spotlight on two of our Sisters from Local 1243—Christine Fik and Lilly Sawle, along with other amazing women working in the trades.

Christine is a seventh-term apprentice originally from Chicago and recently worked at the Eielson Air Force Base. Lilly is an instructor at the Fairbanks Alaska Training Center.

You can read about them here in GVEA’s digital issue of their publication The Ruralite.

It’s great to see our members getting noticed for the work they do and the contributions they make to their local communities.
