AMERICAN RESCUE PLAN ACT SIGNED INTO LAW

$1.9 trillion stimulus is largest COVID-19 relief package yet.

The American Rescue Plan Act is now law.

The $1.9 trillion American Rescue Plan Act includes measures ranging from stimulus checks to child tax credits, jobless benefits to vaccine-distribution funds, healthcare subsidies to restaurant aid.

The law includes $1,400 checks for individuals making less than $75,000 annually and for married couples making less than $150,000.

The plan would raise the $2,000 Child Tax Credit to $3,000, set the credit at $3,600 for parents of children under age 6 and make parents of 17-year-olds eligible. The plan would also make the credit fully refundable, so that low-income households would get the full benefit, no matter how little they earn. The bill provides a 20% boost in after-tax income to the lowest-earning 20% of households, according to a Tax Policy Center estimate.
