On July 13th thousands of California’s long term caregivers, the SEIU and their allies held a live rally in Los Angeles to demand greater federal, state and local investment in America’s care infrastructure. California’s caregivers are calling for immediate investment to improve care, working conditions and to put caregivers on the path to a $20 an hour wage and the middle class.
SWRCC President Pete Rodriguez was invited to speak at the rally. He spoke about the importance in “going big” in passing both an Infrastructure Bill and Human Infrastructure Bill that will benefit both unions. Moreover, both bills will provide much needed funds for building and repairing hospitals and care facilities while giving raises to the caregivers who work inside.
