Carpenters Volunteer to Build School in Denver

Local 555 Special Representative, Juan Arellano, was recently featured on KMGH-TV news.

The DMV isn’t typically a place we think about when we think of community or hope.

This former DMV in Denver is being transformed into the new American Indian Academy School. It will soon bring community and hope to its 6th – 12th graders when it opens next year.

More than 10 Carpenters from Local 555 volunteered to hang 200+ sheets of drywall to help bring the school closer to opening.

The mission for the new AIAD school is to collaborate with students, educators, families, and community members in creating a school where indigenous principles and knowledge are placed in a student-driven STEAM curriculum to prepare all students to be college, career, and life ready.
