CIEF Design Build

Design build is a great event where CTE students can flex their skills.

The fourth annual Southern California Construction Industry Education Foundation (CIEF) competition showcased the talents of high school students from across the region. Over 600 students participated from 38 different schools, competing to show off their construction skills and creativity.

As always, Career Connections partner schools had a strong showing, with 23 schools involved. Out of the 12 awards presented at the event, students from CC partner schools proudly took home 6 awards, demonstrating the strength and effectiveness of our curriculum.

Some highlights include Apple Valley High School, whose pentagonal project won both the People’s Choice and the Architectural Award in the Open Competition category. Estancia High School earned the prestigious “Best in Show” in the Open category, showcasing their remarkable skill and creativity. Hesperia High School stood out by winning the Architectural Award in the Shed Competition, while Sultana High School was recognized with the Team Safety Award.

Additionally, we celebrated the hard work and commitment to safety of Mr. Mendez from John Burroughs High School, who received the Instructor Safety Award.

The event’s success was further supported by the contributions of 24 signatory contractors, providing sponsorship and funding.

Congratulations to all the students, instructors, and schools involved. Your hard work and dedication continue to set the standard for excellence and provides a glimpse into the bright future that lies ahead.
