Local 555 Carpenters Organize Against “Right to Work” Bill in Colorado.
Democrats on Colorado’s House Business Affairs and Labor committee on Thursday rejected a so-called “right-to-work” bill seeking to ban employers from mandating workers join unions or pay union dues.
The 8-5 party line vote to indefinitely postpone the bill from two House Republicans came after representatives from a number of unions urged the committee to reject the legislation.
Carpenters take action.
Local 555 Lead Representative, Mark Thompson, led a charge to motivate his members to testify against the bill. From the Union Hall to snow-covered jobsites, Carpenters made their voices heard in support of rejecting the “Right to Work” bill.
This effort by Local 555 proves once again that when the Brotherhood comes together, things happen.
