CONGRESSMAN JIMMY GOMEZ TOURS AFFORDABLE HOUSING PROJECT

The Union Built La Veranda Project Makes Good Use of Infrastructure Money.

The Southwest Mountain States Regional Council of Carpenters and Local 213 in Los Angeles hosted U.S. Representative Jimmy Gomez (D, CA-34) for a tour of the construction site of La Veranda, a modern mixed-use development featuring 77 affordable homes in Boyle Heights. The project highlights top priorities for Southwest Mountain States Carpenters–affordable housing and infrastructure investments that provide opportunities to build better cities, communities and careers.

Congressman Gomez was able to see first-hand the quality Union project being built in Los Angeles – a project that is going to yield some badly needed affordable housing.

Southwest Mountain States Carpenters is committed to helping solve the affordable housing crisis in Los Angeles. We work with our signatory contractors and developers to help build housing that Angelenos both need and can afford.  The La Veranda project is part of the Boyle Heights Community Plan to revitalize the neighborhood.  With the recent opening of the 6th Street Bridge, Boyle Heights is once again open for business.

NBC 4 covered the event.  Watch the story HERE.
