Mark Kelly was recently sworn in as Junior U.S. Senator from Arizona.
Senator Kelly is a retired U.S. Navy Captain, former astronaut and aerospace executive, who is bringing his years of military and business experience to the Senate.
He flew combat missions during the Gulf War as a naval aviator before being selected as a NASA Space Shuttle pilot in 1996. He flew his first space mission in 2001 as pilot of STS-108, piloted STS-121 in 2006, and commanded STS-124 in 2008 and STS-134 in 2011, the final mission of Space Shuttle Endeavor.
As Senator, Mark Kelly is focusing on issues that are key for every Arizonan, but also to every American: protecting social security and Medicare; strengthening boarders and fixing the immigration system; defending public education; protecting women’s rights; advocating for gun safety; slowing climate change.
Most importantly, Senator Kelly is an advocate for Labor and for Unions. He visited Local 1912 in Phoenix and is a friend to the UBC and the SWRCC.
