HISPANIC COMMITTEE CONFERENCE

Hispanic Committees From Across Southern California Gathered at Local 661.

More than 200 Hispanic committee members gathered in Sylmar at Local 661 for the Hispanic Committee Conference.

EST Rodriguez led the meeting of members and staff to discuss a 5-year plan for the growth of Hispanic committees throughout the Southwest Mountain States. Expanding Hispanic committees at each of the 16 Locals is one of the EST’s platform agenda items.

Members of the conference participated in group activities to define priorities for their various committees including Gallos Politicos, Unidos, and Muchos.  These committees provide valuable resources to our Latino members including communicating Union news in Spanish, organizing CUPP opportunities, and voter outreach and registration.

This event also provided an opportunity for the committees to share with each other their successes and challenges so the group as a whole to learn from their shared experiences.
