Honoring Our Fallen Heroes for Veteran’s Day

We don’t know them all, but we owe them all.

Southwest Mountain States Carpenters Local 951 volunteers participated in the “A Flag for Every Hero” event over the weekend. Approximately 100 Union Carpenters and their families helped place miniature American flags on the gravesites at Riverside National Cemetery.

Marine Veteran and SWMSCTF Executive Director Louis Ontiveros was among those in attendance. He spoke with KNBC’s Michelle Valles to express his gratitude for his fellow veterans. “Thank God that we have men and women out there willing to put their lives out on the line for us here enjoying what we have here in the United States,” Ontiveros said.

Alex Madrid, Local 951 Financial Secretary, was also interviewed by KNBC and shared how important it was for Union Carpenters to acknowledge our nation’s heroes. For years, it has been a Local 951 tradition participate in Memorial Day and Veteran’s Day flag placement efforts.
