INVESTING IN AMERICA: NORWEGIAN DOCKING FACILITY

Tourism to Prince Edward Sound will surge with this new marine port in Whittier, Alaska.

In October 2022, an $80 million privately funded port project broke ground in Alaska, and our Local 2520 Pile Drivers were onsite bringing the development to life. Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd and Huna Totem Corporation partnered to establish the development, with long-term goals of attracting more tourism to Whittier, Alaska, otherwise known as the gateway to Prince William Sound. The project includes a new dock, transit facilities for bus and rail systems, a docking facility, and a cruise ship terminal under signatory contractors Turnagain and F&W Construction. The first ships to dock at the new development are anticipated early next year.
