This year, out of respect for the families affected by the recent wildfires in Alta Dena and Pacific Palisades, the 40th annual Martin Luther King Day Parade was postponed for one month and took place in February on President’s Day. This did not dampen enthusiasm for the special event as droves of spectators lined the parade route to watch the procession. As always, the WSRCC gave it their all in celebrating the Legacy of Dr. King. Over Fifty Carpenters and their families took part in this year’s parade adding to the spectacle of the annual celebration.
When we celebrate something, we go big. Each year our contribution to the parade is a centerpiece of the festivities. This year was no different. Carpenters spent days working on replicas of the Lincoln and Washington Memorials- harnessing their top-notch skills to showcase creativity and demonstrate to onlookers what our Union is capable of.
WSRCC Vice- President, Frank Zambrano joined in with his signature enthusiasm and helped make this day unforgettable. Although the parade took place on a different day this year, its celebration of Dr. King’s legacy added even more meaning to Black History Month!
