Local 1977 Carpenters Give CCSD Students a Warm Back-To-School Welcome

Sin City Carpenters Help Local Students Kick-Off New School Year Right

Local 1977 Union Carpenters took time over the summer to help bring the CCSD Book Bus to life. The Book Bus is a mobile library, set to operate year-round to promote literacy and provide children of local underserved areas with free books.

The reveal took place on the first day of instruction at Ullom Elementary School. Union Carpenters were present to join Superintendent Jesus Jara and Ullom students for the official ribbon cutting ceremony to kick off this new initiative.

Ullom Elementary students were in for an additional treat as they had opportunity to be among the first to board and explore the Book Bus. We thank all of the Carpenters that volunteer their time to make this bus a reality for the students of Clark County School District.

Local 1977 Carpenters also participated in the Welcome Back Event that took place at Matt Kelly Elementary. Along with Senators Jacky Rosen and Catherine Cortez Masto, our Brothers and Sisters greeted faculty and students as they prepare to master the year ahead. This partnership is a part of a Council-wide initiative to give back to the younger members in our communities.
