Locals 951 and 909 Step In to Help American Legion Post

Locals 951 and 909 were featured on KABC TV News.

American Legion Post 289 in Riverside received a helpful gift from Locals 951 and 909 after they were robbed of equipment and materials.

Last month, thieves stole from a Riverside American Legion hall that was undergoing a building renovation. Now, the veterans have received a gift, an immeasurable act of kindness to Post 289.

More than 20 Carpenters and Apprentices worked over a week to install new framing, drywall, flooring, and texturing the walls. Materials were donated from Squires Lumber and the Southwest Carpenters Training Fund.

“We offered our assistance by donating materials, donating time, our apprenticeship; we moved classes from the training center to here and performed classes while training students and our Riverside residents. They were able to finish this remodel,” said Sean Hartranft, Regional Manager, Southwest Regional Council of Carpenters.
