As the new year kicks off, many are looking for fresh starts and new career paths.
Over 100 participants from all walks of life showed up for a 5-hour screening process, hoping to earn a spot in the council’s life-changing, free pre-apprenticeship program. This program offers the chance to learn the carpentry trade with no prior experience required—and no college debt to worry about. Over the course of four weeks, participants will gain hands-on skills, job placement assistance, and resources to set them up for long-term success in the industry.
The day was packed with skills stations, where future Union Carpenters could show off their abilities with tasks like moving materials, and other carpentry essentials. The energy was high as men and women from diverse backgrounds worked hard to prove they had what it takes to thrive in the trade.
Both KCAL and Spectrum News 1 were present to cover the action. Click the links to watch the segments.
