On the Spot with Sam Payzer

Local 206 member is working on one of the nation’s most recognizable landmarks.

Although a long-time Seattle area resident, Sam Payzer had never been inside the Space Needle until he was assigned to replace three elevators in the iconic building. Having been an employee of Turner Construction for over a decade, this project offers a notable sense of pride for Sam who recognizes that he is working on a world-renowned structure.

This four-year project is being built in stages and much of the initial construction took place at night to avoid losing tourism revenue. The local attraction averages 1.3 million visitors annually and is well known for its 360-degree panoramic views of the Emerald City.
