Oregon State Representative Paul Holvey released a statement of gratitude for the efforts SWMSRCC and Local 541 Carpenters contributed to help him thwart a potential recall earlier this month. The recall request, petitioned by the United Food and Commercial Workers made it to the ballot for a special election on October 3, 2023.
Knowing that Holvey has spent the last 20 years supporting legislation for organized labor, our members turned out to show their support by door knocking and distributing literature urging constituents and fellow members to vote “no” on the recall. The efforts paid off. A resounding 90% “No” vote on the recall was announced after election day.
Holvey is committed to his continued his pursuits to support workers across the state of Oregon:
“It has been an honor to represent District 8 in the Oregon House of Representatives and working people around the state. I look forward to continuing to work for our community to advocate for a stronger economy, fair employment and compensation, an improved educational and training system, a healthy environment, and a revenue system that provides for the needs of all Oregonians.”
We are happy to stand by him and stand together!
