We were delighted to welcome Congresswoman Suzanne Bonamici to our training center in Portland, Oregon late last month. Bonamici toured the facility and spoke with Union leadership and representatives about some of WSRCC objectives for providing and sustaining robust apprenticeship opportunities.
“It was great to spend time with Carpenters’ leadership touring the training center and talking about our shared focus on apprenticeships and implementing the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and the Inflation Reduction Act,” Bonamici said.
Both pieces of legislation will directly benefit our membership by providing long-term employment on state infrastructure projects, some of which include apprenticeship utilization requirements.
Bonamici has been a dedicated supporter of educational advancement, and recently introduced a bipartisan legislative package to support and fund the implementation and expansion of skilled trades training among other educational objectives. We are proud to have an elected official who sees the value of investing in a highly skilled and well supported workforce come to visit our training center.
