SECRETARY OF LABOR VISITS RIVERSIDE TRAINING CENTER

Secretary of Labor Marty Walsh and Congressman Mark Takano Visit the New Riverside Training Center

Secretary of Labor Marty Walsh and Congressman Mark Takano visited Southwest Carpenters’ newest Training Center in Riverside.

Walsh and Takano – along with EST Dan Langford and President Rodriguez – spoke to more than 50 Apprentices about the importance of Jobs, Wages, and Benefits, and how President Biden’s Infrastructure Plan can bring good infrastructure jobs to Riverside County and the Inland Empire.

“The Biden administration is committed to apprenticeships and high-quality workforce training,” Walsh said during a discussion with carpenter members and leadership at the SWRCC Training Center. “The Southwest Carpenters and other registered apprenticeship programs train Americans and prepare them to work in good-paying careers.”

“It was great to welcome Secretary Walsh to Riverside and showcase the Southwest Carpenters top-notch training programs here,” Congressman Takano said. “Investing in our local infrastructure will put people back to work and improve our community for future generations.”

“The Southwest Regional Council of Carpenters is the prime example of what it looks like when you invest in apprenticeships and workforce development,” said Dan Langford, Executive Secretary-Treasurer of the SWRCC. “Thank you, Secretary Walsh, for working to enforce the Davis-Bacon Act and helping support passage of a historic infrastructure bill that will put Carpenters to work building the nation’s next generation of public infrastructure.”
