SOUTHWEST MOUNTAIN STATES CARPENTERS ENDORSES CONGRESSMEMBER KAREN BASS FOR MAYOR

SWMSRCC and Congressmember Bass held a joint press conference to celebrate the Union’s endorsement.

At a press conference hosted at our Local 661 Training Center in Sylmar on June 9th, Southwest Mountain States Carpenters announced their proud support for Congressmember Karen Bass for Mayor of Los Angeles.

The announcement came just a day after the results of California’s primary election on June 7th, which determined that both candidates for Mayor of LA, Rep. Karen Bass and Rick Caruso, will head into a runoff race this November.

As a self-described “proud daughter of Los Angeles,” raised in Venice and Fairfax, there is no better candidate to transform Los Angeles than this LA native herself. Following a decades long career organizing in her hometown, Congressmember Bass is ready to transform her beloved city for those who need it most.

At the top of her agenda is dissolving the income inequality gap, bringing long overdue housing to the unhoused, and restoring community safety. “Together with you, we’ll build an LA where our members and Angelenos can afford to live where they work and work where they live,” said EST Pete Rodriguez at yesterday’s announcement.

“One thing I’ve always supported the Carpenters for is that you have always been open to a second chance,” said Congressmember Bass. With that, we fully support Congressmember Karen Bass in her chance to become Mayor of Los Angeles!
