Southwest Carpenters Help Flip Georgia Senate Seats

Carpenters from across the Southwest made over 70,000 calls to Latino voters, increasing turnout to win the elections.

The Southwest Regional Council of Carpenters flexed their power when they conducted a Get Out The Vote phone banking campaign in Georgia, starting on December 5th and concluding on January 5th.

More than 70,000 calls were made to Latino voters and over 27,00 voters were contacted.

The result?

Latino voter turnout for a runoff increased, helping Jon Ossoff and Raphael Warnock capture the two Georgia Senate seats, and giving Democrats the majority.

The SWRCC partnered with the Southwest Voter Education Fund – an organization dedicated to improving Latino participation in elections – on the voter outreach campaign.  The SVEF supplied the information and the SWRCC provided the man power.

Calls were made Monday through Saturday during the month-long campaign. The SWRCC was happy to present this volunteer opportunity to our membership; an opportunity that further exemplified the results of dedicated Carpenter community outreach.
