Construction Safety Week

May 1-5th marks Construction safety week every year, various contractors host enrichment events at jobsites to prevent injury and promote safety in the workplace. This years theme is Strong voices, safe choices, SWMSRCC supports the efforts of Contractors who side with workers, continuing their commitment to safety through educational advocating. We encourage members to renew their commitment to safety by participating in these events and by signing the pledge to keep their Brothers and Sisters safe on the jobsite.

 

Career Connections Student Orientation

Hundreds of students and their families joined Career Connections for their Build Better Careers orientation meeting on Saturday. Upperclassmen and parents had the opportunity to learn more about trade and the great opportunities that are available through a career as a Union Carpenter. They we also able to speak with signatory contractors and partake in various skills stations for hand-on experience. While enrollment in public two- and four-year colleges has decreased, enrollment in the construction trades continues to grow. There’s never been a better time to attain a career in construction with good union wages, benefits, and no college debt.

 

Solidarity Day in Southern California

If you’re in Southern California come join your Brothers and Sisters for a family-friendly event at the Ontario Training Center Local 909! Solidarity Day will feature a variety of booths with live music/DJ, food, T-shirts, games, entertainment, and of course, raffles prizes* (while supplies last! Prizes are open to good standing members).
