March to Free the Land
Southern California Locals joined together to put boots on the ground Saturday in Los Angeles. Union Carpenters joined residents of Los Angeles Figueroa corridor, a stretch of the city with a for a problematic past to raise awareness to the issues of violence, crime, and addiction. Over 40 Union Carpenters joined Community Coalition of South Los Angeles to stand together for Community Wealth. This march is just the beginning, and we look forward to the transformation of this area to better reflect the working-class communities that surround it.
Drywall and Flooring Finals
Last week, our brothers traveled to the Carpenters International Training Center to compete alongside all other UBC councils for the title of best in Drywall and Flooring. After three rounds of competitions our Brothers took home third place in both categories. Congratulations to our Brothers Juan Soto of Local 909 for representing us in the Drywall competition and Julio Cervantes of Local 721 for showcasing his skills in the flooring category.
