SWMSRCC Top Three: Week of October 16th

Here is the SWMSRCC Top Three for the week of October 16th.

Berkley Square Block Party

Las Vegas Local 1977 Union Carpenters joined Congressman Steven Horsford this weekend to give back to the community. Union Carpenters from the Young Guns committee and community members came together to make repairs to homes and paint overlooked community areas as a part of the beautification of Berkely square. These block parties aim to bring resources directly to the source which include health screenings, Ring doorbell installations, and utility assistance. This event is a clear investment in belief in community wealth and is one way Union Carpenters directly make a difference in their communities.

SB4 & SB423 are Officially Laws

Last week, Governor Gavin Newsom gave Union Carpenters in the state of California a cause to celebrate by signing into Law SB4 and SB423. Many thanks to Senator Scott Wiener and everyone that joined in organizing efforts to get this streamline housing bill across the finish line. We celebrate in solidarity with our NorCal Carpenters Brothers for the long days spent speaking on behalf of all Carpenters at the State Capitol.

Red Cross Blood Drive at Utah Local 801

This weekend Local 801 hosted a Red Cross Blood Drive where members were invited to donate lifesaving units for local hospitals in Utah. Union Carpenters showed up ready to meet the challenge, donating a total of 21 units of blood. Every drop helps, donating makes a difference.  Get in contact with your Local to find out when they’ll be hosting a blood drive near you.
