SWRCC TOP THREE: WEEK OF APRIL 19

Here is the SWRCC Top Three for the week of April 19

Tax Fraud Days of Action: San Diego

Southwest Carpenters took over San Diego for Tax Fraud Days of Action.  A press conference was held April 15th on the steps of the San Diego County Administration Building with Chair of the San Diego County Supervisors, Nathan Fletcher and District Attorney, Summer Stephan.  A roundtable discussion took place on April 16th at Local 619 – and streamed on Facebook and YouTube – with Chair Fletcher, DA Stephan, EST Langford, and President Rodriguez. They all discussed the implications of tax fraud, labor trafficking, and wage theft.  The TFDOA events culminated in a member rally on April 17th, held in a parking lot in downtown San Diego across the street from the Pinnacle Pacific Heights project. Pinnacle is one of many criminal general contractors doing business in San Diego.

COVID-19 Vaccination Updates

Anyone over the age of 16 is now eligible for a COVID-19 vaccine in all six states of the Southwest: California, Nevada, Arizona, Colorado, Utah, and New Mexico.

Local 555 Carpenters Volunteer to Help Family in Need

Last year, an Adams County family with eight children, all with special needs, were displaced from their home after it was deemed unsafe for the children to live in. During a welfare check, Adams County Sheriff’s deputies determined the family home was not safe for children, as it needed major repairs. Carpenters from Local 555 have been volunteering to renovate the Gines’ family home. The work continued over the weekend as the volunteers sheetrocked the basement.  Now, the home is one step closer to the Gines family being able to move back in.
