Women’s Auxiliary 007 Hosts Backpack Giveaway

Women’s Auxiliary 007 of Local 213 gave away 100 backpacks filled with school supplies to 100 students of Middleton Elementary in Huntington Park, CA.  WA007 held a backpack drive – securing donations of needed school supplies including pencils, notebooks, and Composition books.  The giveaway was held at Huntington Park City Hall and Mayor Graciela Oritz was in attendance.

FDA Approves Pfizer Vaccine

The Food and Drug Administration granted full approval to Pfizer-BioNTech’s coronavirus vaccine for people 16 and older, making it the first to move beyond emergency use status in the United States. The approval comes as the nation’s fight against the pandemic has intensified again, with the highly infectious Delta variant dramatically slowing the progress that the country had made over the first half of the year. The Biden administration hopes the development will motivate at least some of the roughly 85 million unvaccinated Americans who are eligible for shots to get them.

Press Conference to Expand Clean Energy

Local 1912 participated in a press conference with the Blue Green Alliance in Flagstaff, Arizona to promote the expansion of clean energy projects in the forthcoming Reconciliation Infrastructure Bill.  The expansion of clean energy projects means more jobs for Union Carpenters in this growing sector.
