Here is the SWMSRCC Top Three for the week of December 6th.

Women’s Auxiliary Conference

Presidents of the Women’s Auxiliaries across the Southwest Mountain States and respective members came together in Riverside over the weekend for a first-of-its-kind Women’s Auxiliary Conference.  Participants heard WA Presidents speak about what’s being done in their region, broke out into working groups to discuss WA priorities, and listened to EST Langford and President Rodriguez speak about the SWMSRCC’s goals for the women’s auxiliaries. The conference also provided great fellowship opportunities for the participants from all over the southwest.

Toy Drives

Locals and Women’s Auxiliaries from greater Los Angeles and Orange County will be participating in Holiday Toy and Food Drives this week.  Locals 213 and 721 will be participating in the El Monte Christmas Toy and Food Giveaway (December 11th, 7am-2:30pm, El Monte City Hall) and WA 417 and Local 714 will be distributing toys to families in Orange County on Saturday at the Local.  These events mark the beginning of these drives across the Southwest.

Secretary of Labor Visits Downtown Los Angeles

The Secretary of Labor Marty Walsh was joined by the Chair of the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors, Hilda Solis at The Grand in downtown Los Angeles to celebrate the women who built the landmark project and the power of Apprenticeships.  President Rodriguez participated in a roundtable discussion alongside female Union Carpenters. Carpenter Roxanne Klatt spoke about her 30-year career as a Union Carpenter including her work building The Grand.
