SWMSRCC TOP THREE: WEEK OF FEBRUARY 28

Here is the SWMSRCC Top Three for the week of February 28th.

Solidarity Day:

Thousands of Carpenters and their families gathered at Carpenters Park in Ontario for Solidarity Day.  Everyone enjoyed a day filled with food, music, giveaways, and raffles that included cash prizes up to $5000!  It was clear from the large turnout that members were eager to get together and show their union pride.

An Awesome Group.

Local 909 hosted a Heavy Hitters meeting. EST Rodriguez, President Hawk, and Vice President Hartranft were on-hand for the event and spoke to the group about Contract 2022 and the importance of Jobs, Wages, and Benefits. Participants were given the opportunity to take a survey about their current jobs and their views of the union.

A Historic Election.

On February 25th, Delegates from across the Council cast their votes and elected Pete Rodriguez as Executive Secretary-Treasurer/CEO, making this a historic election of the first Latino EST from the Southwest Mountain States Regional Council. As an organization that’s over 67% Latino, we’re proud to have representation at all levels of leadership. Frank Hawk was elected President, Sean Hartranft was elected Vice President, while Barry Jenkins, Frank Zambrano, and Doug Hicks were elected to the Executive Board, and Kyle Patterson was elected the first Black Trustee of the SWMSRCC. Pete succeeds Dan Langford who was recently appointed Western District Vice President of the UBC.
