SWMSRCC TOP THREE: WEEK OF MAY 23

Here is the SWMSRCC Top Three for the week of May 23rd.

Local 1977 Fills Their CUPP:

With over 1000 hours of volunteering to the City, Local 1977 was recently recognized by the Las Vegas City Council and Councilwoman Olivia Diaz. Top Local 1977 Volunteers will receive individual certificates at their next meeting. Our Vegas Carpenters were also given the opportunity to meet with Assemblymen Steve Yeager and Howard Watts and Assemblywoman Daniele Monroe-Moreno who toured our Las Vegas training center and spoke to our apprentices. Congratulations to Local 1977 on this significant achievement – your community thanks you!

Local 801 Cleans Up Sandy, UT:

This week, our Utah Carpenters gathered for a local CUPP opportunity in Sandy City. They spent their time beautifying the city, picking up litter, and also working on some light landscaping. The supervisor with Sandy City Parks and Rec was impressed with the work ethic these members displayed getting the work done and a Local 801 rep says they accomplished more work than the city planned on.

Later on, these Carpenters assisted at the annual Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive sorting out food donations. It was a busy day for these members but also a rewarding one. Thanks to Local 801 for contributing their spare time and energy to making a difference in their city!

Local 661 Gives Facelift to Blessing Corner in Bakersfield:

20+ volunteer Union Carpenters from Local 661 in Bakersfield gave a needed facelift to the Blessing Corner building on Saturday morning.  The volunteer Carpenters were happy to give back to an organization that gives back to Bakersfield on a daily basis. The Carpenters gave the exterior of Blessing Corner a fresh coat of paint and did much needed repairs.  The group – along with Assemblymember Rudy Salas and Bakersfield City Council Member Eric Arias – were excited to make the outside of Blessing Corners shine as brightly as the work they do from the inside of the building.
