SWMSRCC TOP THREE: WEEK OF NOVEMBER 15

Here is the SWMSRCC Top Three for the week of November 15th.

Veterans Day:

The SWMSRCC celebrated Veterans Day by giving back to the community and honoring our Veteran members.

Volunteer Carpenters from Local 661 in Bakersfield built a disabled ramp for Airforce Veteran Kenny O’Neal, and held a ribbon cutting event on Veterans Day. Walking up the four steps to his home became harder and harder for Kenny as old age set in. Now, Kenny can get in and out of his home worry free using his walker.  Bakersfield media showed up to cover the ribbon cutting event.  Watch the story on KGET Bakersfield Here.

Local 805 Veteran Carpenters attended the 30th anniversary of the dedicated Oxnard (CA) Veterans Memorial. The Carpenters were joined by Oxnard Mayor John Zaragoza.

The Young Guns Committee at Local 1977 brought donuts to the Las Vegas VA Hospital and Medical Center on Veterans Day.

Local 555 Participates in Senator Hickenlooper Press Conference

Local 555 Lead Representative Mark Thompson spoke during Senator Hickenlooper’s press conference on Infrastructure in Denver.  Mark spoke about the effect of the Infrastructure Bill on Carpenter jobs in Colorado and the surge of work that will come to Colorado because of the bill.

Build Better is Live!

The SWMSRCC’s new brand campaign, Build Better, is now live.  The Build Better campaign features real Union Carpenters and delivers three distinct messages: Build Better Cities, Build Better Communities, and Build Better Careers.  The campaign communicates Southwest Carpenters’ role in building our cities, partnering with elected officials to build our communities, and the Union as a strong path for building better careers.  The Build Better campaign will be featured in digital, print, and billboard advertising through March 2022.
