Here is the SWMSRCC Top Three for the week of October 10th.

GOTV Rally

Union Carpenters from all over Los Angeles showed up in South LA over the weekend to support candidates who support us.  Members listened to California Assemblymember Miguel Santiago and Congresswoman Karen Bass talk about the need to make our voices heard on November 8th. Following the rally, attendees received packets of door hangers and lawn signs and headed out to distribute them to member’s homes.  KCBS, KCAL, KABC, and KNBC covered the rally.

Updates at the ITC

UBC General President Douglas J. McCarron recently announced changes at the International Training Center. “Brothers and Sisters, we are happy to announce that because of the high rate of vaccination, combined with advances in treatment for COVID-19 and lower infection rates, we are now able to rescind the vaccination policy at the International Training Center without risking the health of our members or staff. We look forward to seeing you at the ITC.”

President Hawk Visits the White House

President Hawk attend the White House’s Communities in Action: Building A Better Nevada conference. The conference discussed three top issues that are on the Biden Administration’s agenda and that affect the southwest: infrastructure, mental health, and prescription drug costs. It was great to see a Union Carpenter have a seat at this table.
