Labor Day Parades
Locals 555 in Colorado and Local 805 in California participated in Labor Day parades in their communities. Both Locals created floats that illustrated the message of Jobs, Wage, Benefits, and how Union jobs help to create Community Wealth. Participating in Labor Day parades is a rite of passage for the SWRCC as the Carpenters held the first Labor Day parade in 1882.

After putting in the years of hard work as Union Carpenters we want all our members to retire in dignity. You’ve contributed to the grown of this Union and helped to build the Southwest, and we want to thank you for your work and dedication.
A more detailed explanation of these pension benefit increases is being mailed out by the Trust. And you will be able to access your benefit – and track how much you will be receiving when your retire – on Member XG.
This increase in pension benefits is just another example of why continuing to stay essential is paramount for our Union’s continued success.
Retired Colorado Carpenter Eileen Marie Meets Kelly Clarkson
Retired Carpenter Eileen Marie of Local 555 was Kelly Clarkson’s #Obsessed on today’s episode of the Kelly Clarkson Show.
Eileen had an almost 30-year career as a Union Carpenter. She’s built bridges, office buildings, a facility to detoxify mustard gas bombs from WWII, and many more projects across Colorado.
In addition to being an accomplished Carpenter, Eileen was the first woman Officer of a Colorado Local. She taught disadvantaged girls carpentry at summer camps, and worked for Bechtel Construction and GE Johnson Construction over her storied career.
Moreover, Eileen has become legendary in Colorado – both to those that worked with her and for women that are entering the Trades. She was a proud member of the Carpenters Union for almost thirty years before she retired in 2008. However, she is still making her mark today.
