TALKING INFRASTRUCTURE WITH SENATOR ALEX PADILLA

EST Langford, President Rodriquez, Vice President Hawk, and Member Jose Almaguer Met With Senator Alex Padilla (CA) to Talk Infrastructure and Jobs.

The Southwest Regional Council of Carpenters (SWRCC) met virtually with U.S. Sen. Alex Padilla (D-Calif.) to discuss the importance of Congress passing a major infrastructure package that brings jobs to the Southwest.

Member Jaime Almaguer Spoke to Senator Padilla Directly About Infrastructure

“We want what’s best for California,” said Dan Langford, executive secretary-treasurer of the SWRCC. “That’s why we are urging Congress to pass the American Jobs Plan and support a package that will not only bring jobs to the Southwest, but also help rebuild our roads and bridges, protect our drinking water, modernize our schools, and repower our energy future. With the support of Sen. Padilla, we can invest in our communities by supporting an infrastructure package that will help rebuild a stronger California and Southwest.”

In a powerful moment, Jaime Almaguer, a front-line union carpenter, and Sen. Padilla spoke to each other exclusively in Spanish. Almaguer shared how he came to the U.S. from Mexico with only one pair of shoes and how he achieved success for his family because of his job as a carpenter. Almaguer was joining from a job site where he is helping build the Martin Luther King Hospital in Los Angeles.
