WSRCC Carpenters are hard at work building the new Micron plant in Boise, Idaho. The $15 billion state-of-the-art semiconductor manufacturing facility is expected to be operational by 2026. The impressive 1.2-million-square-foot expansion will include microchip and TD fabrication buildings, clean room space, administrative buildings, and warehouse space. Infused by funding from former President Biden’s CHIPS and Science Act, this key investment in domestic technology advancement has created approximately 800 construction jobs and will bolster Idaho’s economy by creating approximately 2,000 new Micron occupations and 17,000 jobs indirectly once completed. WSRCC members have been busy building the site from the ground up, including but not limited to concrete work, interior/exterior systems scopes, and clean room construction. More work will continue through 2025.
