VOLUNTEER CARPENTERS BUILD PRIZE-WINNING PARADE FLOAT

Local 661 in Bakersfield Builds Christmas Parade Float

Volunteer Carpenters from Local 661 in Bakersfield helped to build the Grand Marshall float for the annual Christmas Parade in Bakersfield.

The float won the First Place prize in the Non-Profit category.  The float depicts the Fox Theater in Bakersfield depicting a scene of the first movie ever played at the theater on Christmas Day in 1930.

The real star of the float was the CUPP Trophy that was placed alongside one of the volunteer Carpenters from 661 who was riding atop the float.

The CUPP Trophy was featured during ABC 23 Bakersfield’s broadcast of the parade. This is the trophy’s first appearance on television in the 3+-year history of CUPP.  Watch the trophy ride by Here.
