WSRCC Helps Habitat for Humanity in Bellingham

Members volunteered their expert skills and labor to complete the building of four additional units at the Telegraph Townhomes housing development in Bellingham, Washington.

As part of Habitat for Humanity Whatcom’s (HFHW) Home Builders Blitz, our Union Carpenters put their expert skills and commitment to building better communities by volunteering at the Telegraph Townhomes Project. Union Carpenters from across Western Washington assisted with the finishing touches on four housing units, bringing 16 units to completion last week. Eventually 52 total permanently affordable housing units will be available exclusively to low-income Whatcom County residents.

The Telegraph Townhomes development is a partnership project between Habitat for Humanity in Whatcom County, Kulshan Community Land Trust, and the Whatcom Community Foundation. Over 130 volunteers have been working on this project, and HFHW is thrilled that WSRCC Carpenters participated in the building event.

Habitat for Humanity is an incredible national organization that makes housing more accessible to those with lower income brackets. By partnering with this organization, and volunteering professional skills, the Whatcom County community can depend on newly constructed affordable housing.
