WSRCC Memorial Day 2024

Members across the Council participated in flag placements and other events for the 2024 Memorial Day holiday.

Dozens of Carpenters participated in Memorial Day events across the Council last weekend. Whether volunteering to place flags at the graves of soldiers or participating in observations organized through the Department of Veterans Affairs, our members showed up to celebrate brotherhood found in union membership and military service.

Members in Arizona, California, Nevada, and Washington, many of whom are veterans, took part in honoring fallen soldiers this past weekend, making these moments meaningful in more ways than one.

Some highlights include a large gathering in Riverside, CA with locals 951 & 909 and Vice President Frank Zambrano participating in flag placement at Riverside National Cemetery. California Local 661 teamed up with Local 323’s Veterans Committee in a flag placement event at Los Angeles National Cemetery, as did Local 1977 at Southern Nevada Cemetery.

Up north, Locals 360 and 425 collaborated with community partners like the Knights of Columbus and Boy Scouts to place flags on thousands of graves in Orting and Mount Vernon in Washington.

Seeing our Carpenters involved in their communities is one of WSRCC’s continuous objectives. We know better communities are built by Member participation. Thank you to all who spent their weekends honoring our fallen soldiers while exhibiting our strength in Union brotherhood.
