San Diego, CA- Local 619 hosts Girls in the Shop Event

San Diego Union Carpenters and Career Connections teamed up to host this years Girls in the Shop Event. This event provides middle and highschool aged girls the ability to try their hand at carpentry skills in the presence of high profile contractos such as Flat Iron, Nova Drywall and McCarthy. This event helped 13 girls from Local San Diego schools stoke an interest in pursuing a career in the trades.

 

New Mexico- Local 1319 Celebrates the life and legacy of Cesar Chavez and Dolores Huerta

This weekend, New Mexico Union Carpenters walked beside Dolores Huerta at the 32nd Annual Cesar Chavez and Dolores Huerta Celebration in Albuquerque. The annual event is hosted by the National Hispanic Cultural center and holds family friendly activities including kids craftsand live dance and music performances. This unique celebration is something the Carpenters community looks forward to each year.

 

Kent, WA- B.O.O.T.S. pre-apprenticeship program heads north

This week, the B.O.O.T.S pre-apprenticeship program kicked off its first class at the Kent Carpenters Training Center. This four week class aims to bring new career opportunities for women in the trades. Click here to see press coverage from the class.
