Christmas Arrives Early for Long Beach Resident
Carpenters Local 562 Sisters in the Brotherhood committee volunteered their time on Saturday to help a Long Beach resident by building an ADA compliant ramp to help her easily access her home. Cheryl Ming, 53, suffered a stroke and that has since impacted her mobility, the Long Beach disabled resource center in partnership with Long Beach City Council Member 1st District Mary Zendejas reached out to the Carpenters for help. This build comes just in time for the holidays giving Cheryl the opportunity to maintain her independence.

Carl E. Gilbert Elementary Field trip to Local 714
Students of Carl E. Gilbert Elementary visited Local 714 last week for a fieldtrip tour of the training center. 100 students attended the field trip and were given the opportunity to learn more about what it means to be a part of the Union. Additionally, students were split into smaller groups and lead to the training floor for a tour of the facilities. Finishing off the trip with hands on activities in the hall. Opportunities like these with elementary school students help spark an early interest in the trades while creating a positive impact on our communities.
