Washington hosts initial Boots Bootcamp
Over the weekend, the Kent Carpenters Training Center hosted their inaugural B.O.O.T.S. (Bridging Outstanding Opportunities with Tradeswomen Skills) Pre-Apprenticeship Program Bootcamp. B.O.O.T.S. is a BOOTS is a four-week apprenticeship program designed to provide hands-on training for women looking to become Union Carpenters. The program kicks off in a month’s time on March 17th.
Local 661 Lends a Hand to Local Little League
Carpenters of Local 661 volunteered over the weekend at the Sylmar Independent Baseball League. The league was in need of volunteers to revitalize their bleaches and concession stand roof. Carpenters answered the call and came together to ensure that players and spectators have shade for many more games.
Kingdom Day Parade
Today, Carpenters from Southern California Locals 323, 661, 562, and 213 joined the crowds in south Los Angeles this morning for the 40th Annual Kingdom Day Parade. Carpenters spent days working on a replica of the Lincoln and Washington Memorial harnessing their hard earned skills to showcase creativity. Over 50 Union Carpenters and their families joined the 1.5-mile-long parade procession, WSRCC Vice-President Frank Zambrano joined in on the celebration.
