WSRCC Top Three: Week of February 24th

Here is the WSRCC Top Three for the week of February 24th.

Senator Mark Meek Stands Up to Wage Theft

Oregon State Senator Mark Meek recently visited a non-union Portland job site with Union Carpenter Representatives, where he witnessed the effects of wage theft on workers. He saw firsthand how negligent underpayment is leaving workers struggling to make ends meet and with no future of retirement. We’re proud to stand with leaders like Senator Meek, who are committed to holding bad actors accountable and fighting for fair labor practices to protect workers’ rights. Local 909 Outreach event

Union Carpenters of Local 909’s Young Guns and DAP Committee marked CTE (Career and Technical Education) Month by volunteering at a local school for at-risk youth. The mentorship event provided students with insights into career opportunities in the Union, helping them understand the potential pathways to a rewarding career in the trades.
