Here is the WSRCC Top Three for the week of March 17th

St. Patricks Day

Locals across the WSRCC joined their communities this weekend to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day. Across the WSRCC Locals, in Utah Local 801 Carpenters built a tool box float decorated with green clovers which matched their green Union shirts fit for the season. Montana Local 82 participated in two parades one in Butte and Great Falls where Carpenters walked behind a bright green banner reading, “Kiss me I’m a Union Carpenter,” while handing out sweets to the crowds. Happy St. Patrick’s Day!

 

Bakersfield Local 743 Kern High ROC

Carpenters of Local 743 in Bakersfield teamed up with Kern High ROC for a Skills Competition. Students from the High School program were tasked with building a small structure within a set timeframe. Union Carpenters were on hand as experts, instilling valuable encouragement while overviewing the competition. The future of the trades is in good hands with the is bright thanks to programs like Career Connections and those offered at the Kern High ROC.

 

News on Oregon’s SB426

Oregon Union Carpenters were featured recently speaking out in favor of a proposed SB426 Bill analysis. This crucial bill aims to hold criminal contractors accountable by implementing safeguards to protect workers from wage theft. The bill is currently being revised before it’s presented.
