CO wage theft bill passes

Great news out of Colorado! The Wage theft Bill has PASSES the Colorado State Senate, the Bill HB24-1008 passed with a vote in favor 6-3! This bill is designed to combat wage theft by imposing stricter penalties on contractors and subcontractors to hold them accountable, protecting construction workers across the state. Congratulations to #Local555 for the successful passage of this pioneering legislation!

AK department of Transportation Job Fair

On Wednesday, May 1, 2024, WSRCC hosted a booth at the 2024 Alaska Construction Career Day in Palmer, Alaska. The Alaska Department of Transportation sponsored the event and over 800 students from homeschools, Anchorage, and Mat-Su School Districts attended to learn about career paths in the trades. Several students visited the WSRCC booth where they built sawhorses and birdhouses. WSRCC Representative Gabe Shaddy-Farnsworth said, “We were accommodating 50-60 students at a time in our booth. It was a good chance to meet Career Connections students and instructors and to network with CTE instructors.”
