WSRCC Top Three: Week of Sept 23rd

Here is the WSRCC Top Three for the week of September 23rd

Costco Breaks Ground in South Los Angeles

Union Carpenters and WSRCC EST Frank Hawk were present in the Baldwin Hills-Crenshaw neighborhood for the Costco ground breaking. This project is possible thanks to recent law changes which streamline development for mixed use and low-income residential projects. Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass personally thanked Western District Vice President Pete Rodriguez, and the Carpenters for bringing this initiative to the table. We look forward to bringing union jobs, competitive wages, and benefits to South LA.

Acting Secretary of Labor Julie SU roundtable at the ITC

Acting Secretary of Labor Julie Su joined Local 1977 Union Carpenters at the International Training Center in Las Vegas to discuss better jobs and breaking barriers for women and people of color in the trades. As part of the Good Jobs Initiative, Julie Su participated in a roundtable with our Union Carpenters to gain insights on how the Department of Labor can improve access to quality Union jobs. Together, we are building a brighter future for all in the construction industry.

Final week of Vision 2024

Last chance to take part in the discussion of our Vision 2024 meetings. Vision 2024 is a state of the union for our Union. These presentations aim to educate our members about politics that affect our jobs and livelihoods. Don’t miss out on this opportunity to learn about how our work and our futures are affected by the simple act of voting.
